Narrative Structure
1. Exposition
We are introduced to the central characters and settings. It ends when a conflict or problem is introduced with the inciting incident. 2. Rising Action This refers to events that happen between the inciting incident and the climax. Often, things will be getting worse for the central characters. 3. Climax This is the turning point in the story. This is not the moment when the problem is solved. The main character may change, learn a lesson, or meet an important person, and this change will prepare the main character to solve the conflict in the story. 4. Falling Action This refers to events that happen after the mood has shifted, but before the problem has been solved. 5. Resolution This is how the story ends or how the problem is solved. |
