Parts of a Song
1. Intro
This is the start of the song. It is usually in instrumental form. 2. Verse This contains the details of the song. There are usually two or three of them in a song. It tells the story. 3. Pre Chorus This is a short part of the song that connects the Verse to the Chorus. It is like a mini-bridge. 4. Chorus This part of the song conveys the main theme or emotion of the song. It repeats at least once during the song, and it usually contains the most memorable part of the song, which is known as “the hook”. The title of the song is usually in the first line or last line. 5. Bridge This is used to break up the repetitive pattern of the song by changing the pattern of the words and music. It usually comes after the second chorus. It can include the moral of the story. It is also called the “Middle Eight”. 6. Coda This comes at the end of the song. It is a kind of Grand Finale that usually contains an extended version of the Chorus, and is also sometimes called the “Outro”. |
